Victor (Mickey) Collins and me, Bob Esti,  were inseparable during our 4 years at St. Peter's Prep. Mickey was from Hoboken (where my mother's family was from) and I lived in Cliffside Park. We sat next to each other for 4 years and were a constant nusiance to our teachers because of our conversations and laughter....I fully apologize to all of them.  Upon graduation I went to St. Peter's College and Mickey went into the Navy to serve his country.

During our Prep years, we shared many wonderful experiences, going to Madison Square Garden for Basketball games, playing Freshman and "perpetual" B-team basketball at the Prep. During our Senior year we decided that we had enough "perpetual" B-Team basketball and we wanted Coach Roy L. to "ask us" to join the team.....it is 65 years later and Roy has not called yet, but Mickey was called to the Lord....at least one of us got a call....although I miss and think of him daily.... Sorry Mick for a crazy immature idea that didn't work out too well. .Maybe next time?

After serving in the Navy, Mickey went to college in CA and went into law enforcement, again "serving others", eventually achieving postion of Chief of Police of Salinas, CA. We rekindled our friendship and enjoyed many reunions together with his wonderful and charming wife, Kay, and my beautiful wife, Valerie. We have great memories of wonderful times sharing a solid and strong friendship together....yes, even our wives had a great time with us....many laughs and good cheer.

I know Mickey will forgive me for all the crazy situations I got him involved in over the years and I hope he is selling St. Peter and the Lord on my acceptance into the Heavenly World, along with all of our fellow alumni.

Mickey, thank you, for being you and i pray that our friendship and enjoyment with each other will continue in the after life of our Lords blessings. God Bless you, your family and all who read this heartful and simple message. Love ya man,

Bob Esti '55 & Valerie (too)
